Step by Step Accessibility is a Vancouver Island-based company started in 2018 that provides advice and consultation on matters related to accessibility.
As a person born with diverse abilities, I bring with me a lifetime of experience in dealing with and creating solutions for environmental barriers within education, employment, leisure, housing, travel, and recreation services. In addition to this, my studies in the field have given me a strong understanding of accessibility standards, including CSA B651-23, BC Building Code (Section 3.8), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), RHFAC Rating System and a Certified Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification Program (RHFAC) Assessor, as well as expert technical knowledge in conjunction with awareness of usable products and services related to enhancing accessibility.
My lived experience and the skills I’ve gained through training combine to provide Step by Step Accessibility with a unique and ideal platform from which to promote and implement the concepts of Universal Design, and offer key solutions to creating barrier-free environments in all areas of the public and private sector, including retail outlets, recreational facilities, residential buildings, schools and parks.
